His medallion is one of my favorite ways to invoke Saint Christopher and ask for his aid, particularly when I travel.  The particular medallion that I have is a simple metal one, the common image of Saint Christopher carrying the infant Jesus on his back, while crossing the river, a scene taken from the story of the life of Saint Christopher

The story says that Christopher (a large, strong man, who was fearsome to behold) was looking to serve the greatest king there was.  First her served his local king, but when he saw him cross himself against the devil, he realized the devil was greater then that king.  So he went out in the wilderness and found a bunch of bandits and marauders, one who declared himself to be the devil, he started serving him.  But when he saw his master fear and avoid the cross, he realized that the devil was afraid of Christ, and began to seek out Christ that he may serve them.  He found a devoted hermit who eventually instructed him that he could serve Christ by assisting people across a dangerous river.  He did as the hermit instructed and carried on this way for many years.  One day, a child appeared asking to be carried across the river.  He lifted the child up, and started crossing, but as he did, he found the child becoming heavier and heavier, and suddenly the river waters began to rise, as though they were flooding.  With great difficulty he managed to cross to the other side, and told the child that he has not carried such a heavy burden.  At which point the child revealed the he was Christ, whom Christopher was serving, and disappeared.  It was later after this, that Christopher was martyred in Lycia, while giving comfort to the persecuted Christians there. 

On the back of my interesting medallion, is the image of a surfer on his surfboard, riding a wave.  Apparently, during the middle 20^th century in Southern California, Saint Christopher became very popular with surfer culture, being seen as a protector of the surfers while they road the waves, and so these medallions were produced.  When I found this medallion I knew it was the one I had to have, because it is just so iconic and interesting.

The main way that I gain the blessings of Saint Christopher is by keeping his medallion in my car.  It hangs from my rear view mirror, the image of Saint Christopher facing me.  When I am leaving on a drive where I feel that I may have to deal with many obstacles from traffic, or accidents, or inclement weather, I will hold the medallion in my hand, and improvise a prayer, asking for the aid of Saint Christopher.  It often goes something like this:

“Saint Christopher, through the grace of God, aid me in my trip.  Let me reach my destination quickly and safely, and let the road be open before me, and the trip be enjoyable, and stay with me until I have returned safely to my home. Amen.”

I find that this is more then sufficient for any short trips, and that when I find myself sitting in traffic (which living in the Los Angeles area is going to happen) that even then the traffic moves as quickly as it can, and I manage to avoid any potential accidents that can happen when people get frustrated or angry when dealing with traffic.

Occasionally, I have felt the impetus to leave candy outside, either scattering it on the road as I travel, or a bag left where a hungry traveler might find it, which seems to help me on my own trips where I have prayed to Saint Christopher.

Today, I want to share a spell for gaining a steady job at a fair wage with those of you who find yourself in this situation and who need to get an edge in your job-seeking endeavors.

Beforehand

1. Whether you quit, were laid-off, or fired from your previous job—-losing one’s means of income can be a very traumatic experience. It is a good idea to undertake a cleansing, such as a spiritual bath or Egg Roll,  before undertaking the work of finding a new job to let go of any negative feelings (betrayal, resentment, etc…).
2. If you left your work due to a hostile work environment, or after having a difficult working relationship with your boss or co-workers I would also suggest obtaining and lighting a few Reversing Candles and praying the 37th or 52nd Psalms for protection from the slander and backbiting of your enemies.
3. If you are a member of any social networking group, such as Myspace or Facebook, do not bad mouth your previous company or co-workers online. Potential employers often use these sites to investigate applicants. In fact, it is best if you adjust your account settings so that it is not public and only your online friends can view your page.
4. If you submit a cover letter, an employment application or resume online, DO NOT use or provide an email account that is connected to your social networking sites. Do not make it easy for potential employers to  discover information about you that may prevent you from getting an interview. Instead, create an entirely new email account for this purpose. Try to obtain an email address for yourself that sounds professional and avoids silly names.
5. When folding your resume or cover letter for mailing make sure you fold it towards yourself and call the job to you as you do.
6. Lightly draw a small rune or sigil for luck , success, or prosperity on the envelope and then cover it with your stamp.

To perform this ritual you will need:

• Image of St. Joseph the Worker
• Clean Jar with a Metal Lid
• A Copy of your Resume
• Drawing Powder
• Steady Work Oil
• Gravel Root
• Guinea Pepper Grains
• A Buckeye
• Green or Yellow Candle

Under ideal circumstances, this spell should be performed when the moon is New to Waxing on a Sunday or a Thursday.  If you desire you may choose a day-of-the-week that is associated with your job-industry. For example:

• Sunday- Administration, Management, Government, Banker, Loan Officer, Accountant.
• Monday- Spiritual and Religious, Priesthood, Psychic, Mental Health Industry.
• Tuesday- Sex Industry, Police, Military, Engineer, Activist, Non-Profit Sector.
• Wednesday- Communications, Healthcare, Writer, Editor, Speaker, Trade and Commerce.
• Thursday- Technology, IT, Computers, Programming, Gaming, Inventor, etc…
• Friday- The Performing Arts, Creativity, Actor, Musician, Dancer, Decorator, Designer, Photographer, Chef.
• Saturday- Criminal Justice, Lawyer, Judge, Parole Officer, Jury Consultant, Realtor, Developer, Construction Worker.

However, if you need is such that you simply can’t wait for a more ideal day then you should perform this ritual immediately. Set up your workspace, which should include an image of St. Joseph the Worker, the husband of the Virgin Mary and earthy father of Jesus. If you desire, you may glue the image to the front of your glass jar.

Begin the ritual by anointing the four corners and center of your resume with Steady Work Oil as you think about the kind of job that you’d like to obtain. Sprinkle the paper with Drawing Powder (powdered sugar) and then fold the resume towards you three times rotating clockwise between each fold and call the job to you. You may want to say something such as:

“In the name of St. Joseph, I now draw to myself a good job at a fair wage which will allow me to maintain my present lifestyle or something better and which will allow me to provide for myself as well as those in my care. Amen.”

Place the folded resume in the jar and sprinkle some Gravel Root, and Guinea Pepper Grains over the resume.  Anoint a small whole buckeye with Steady Work Oil and place this inside the jar as well.

At this point you can add any herbs or curios which you feel are appropriate for your situation. For example, you may add a key for opening the doors of opportunity; cinnamon-sugar for drawing money; or five-finger grass for success in anything that the five hands can do (I especially recommend this last one if you work with your hands.) You may also add properly gathered dirt from the grave of someone who was successful in your chose career.  In addition you may wish to add any symbols associated with your profession such as a dollar bill for a bank teller, jezebel root for a sex-worker, or a small pencil for a writer.

Place the lid on the jar. Next carve your name and the words Steady Work on a green or gold candle and adhere this to the lid of the jar. Anoint the candle with Steady Work Oil and light it making your prayer or petition and then leave the candle to burn out on its own. When the candle burns down inspect the lid for any leftover wax which may provide a sign regarding the success or failure of your work.

Each morning thereafter vigorously shake the jar calling on St. Joseph for a good job at a fair wage.

1. Psalm 23- An all purpose prayer.
2. Psalm 32- Calls love, grace and mercy upon those who pray it. It has been used by the unemployed to obtain a new job.
3. Psalm 70- For fast results in matters of money.
4. Psalm 112- To get a loan or job.

Items you will need

- red pen

- Piece of paper approximately 4×2 inches

- A hair from the client and the partner

- honey

- balm of gilead bud or reconciliation sachet powder

- reconciliation condition oil

- clear tape

Take the piece of paper, and write the name of the partner on the paper seven times.  Turn the paper 90 degrees clockwise, and write the name of the client over the partner 7 times. Continuing to turn clockwise, in the four corners of the paper, draw a single red heart, as symbol for the love that is going to be encouraged between the couple.  The end result should look something like this:

Dress the corners and hearts with reconciliation oil.  In the center of the petition, put a dab of honey, and use it to stick the hairs of the couple onto the petition.  On top of the hairs and honey, place a balm of gilead bud on it.  Fold the paper over the bud, hairs and honey.  Turn the paper 90 degrees clockwise, and fold it over again, and repeat it until you have a small folded packet, with one side smooth, and the other side where all the folded over ends will be present.  On the smooth side, take the pen, and draw a heart on top.  Then take the clear tape, and tape the packet up, so it can’t open or unfold.  I recommend taping it down in a cross pattern.  The end result should look something like this:

The packet can then be used in a number of ways.  It can be taken by the client and carried by them, while they pray for their reunion with their estranged partner.  It can be hidden under the clients bed that they shared with their partner.  It can be placed behind a photo of the client and the partner in their home. It can be placed into a sweetener jar spell for the client.  It can also be used as a petition in on going candle work for the client, with it being attached to the side of glass vigil candles, or placed in the hollow under metal candlesticks, while tapers are burned on top, until satisfaction is achieved by the client.

To help them with this, I put together the following sugar jar, to bring sweetness and affection to their marriage and new lifestyle.

Here are the things you will need 

-       a half pint mason jar and lid

-       granulated sugar (or other sweetener, I just prefer sugar)

-       a small piece of paper approximately 4 x 2 inches

-       a red pen

-       a bible or “Secrets of the Psalms”

The first thing you will do is make the petition paper.  On the piece of paper,  lightly draw a circle in the center of the paper with a pencil.  In the center of the circle, right the name of one member of the married couple.  Turn the paper 90 degrees to the right, and right the name of the other partner crossing over the first partner.    The end result should look something like this:

Take the paper and fold it in half towards you three times, turning it clockwise as you do so.

Then take the paper and put it at the bottom of the mason jar.  Fill the mason jar with sugar to the brim.  Take your finger and wet it gently and say “As this sugar is sweet to me, so let there be sweetness between (x) and (y).” Stick the finger into the sugar, take it out, and lick the sugar that sticks off.  Then seal the jar with the lid, screwing it into place tightly.

While holding the mason jar, pray aloud Psalm 139 and Psalm 140, with sincerity and fervency.  Psalm 139 is said to preserve and increase love among married couples, while psalm 140 is said to remove enmity between a married couple.

If you keep a Love Altar, you can keep the jar there, with a quick prayer of praise and thankfulness to the powers of Love, or you can place the jar in a location where the married couple will pass by it on a regular basis, or (if you can) have the jar hidden in their home.  Hiding the jar in the pot of a house plant as a gift is an excellent idea.
