Dara Anzlowar – Hoodoo Roots

I have been a reader for over 40 years, and a spiritual worker for almost as long. I sincerely did not seek this work out, but rather, in many ways, it was thrust upon me. People came to me, opened up to me with their most heartfelt and private needs, and asked me for assistance. This happened again and again, even when they did not know that I was a reader or had an interest in such things; once I was “out” as a reader, this increased exponentially. I suppose that those folks recognized something in me. I prayed long and hard before I decided to agree to do spiritual work for others, in order to be sure that I had the blessing of God and His green light. I prayed until I was given an answer, and was truly willing to receive either a red light or a green light, and to act on what I received, as I recognize that it is not me alone who does this work. I believe that it is God, the Saints, and the Spirits who really do whatever good is done via the spiritual work I do for others. My work is primarily New Orleans-style hoodoo, along with a deep awareness of the roots, herbs, and the wild.

Fortune tellingI am a deeply trained herbalist with a profound education in the medicines of the green world, both physical and spiritual. My first and most important teacher was my mother, who knew more about the green kingdoms and the wild than anyone else I have ever known. I have also received a serious education in both European herbalism and Traditional Cherokee herbal medicine. I am particularly deeply moved by the Native uses of plants, both on a physical and ceremonial level. I have studied Ayurvedic herbs and other botanical substances, and the herbs, substances, and beliefs of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have been blessed to work in-person with some of the most profoundly knowledgeable herbalists and ethno-botanists in the Western world.

Since I first started working in this field as a teenager, I have made it my mission to learn as much as I could about working with spirit. I learned conjure and roots hands-on from those who taught me, long before the internet was a part of my life. I am always learning, and hope that I will always continue to do so.
